PLANNING

Planning is looking ahead or planning is deciding in advance- “WHAT TO DO, WHEN TO DO AND HOW TO DO”. It bridges the gap between where we are and where we want to reach.

Planning is necessary to ensure the utilization of human and nonhuman resources. It is an intellectual activity which helps in avoiding the confusion, uncertainties, risks, etc.

ORGANIZING

It is the process of bringing together physical, financial, human resources and developing productive relationships among them for achieving goals.

It involves –    Identification of activities

Classification of groups of activities

Delegation of authority and creation of responsibility

Assignment of duties

STAFFING

It is the process of recruitment, selection, the appointment of employees, assigning duties, maintaining a cordial relationship and also taking care of grievances of the employees. It also provides training to employees and evaluates their performance.

It involves-    Training and development

Recruitment, selection, and placement

Performance appraisal and promotions

DIRECTING

Giving directions or instructions to employees to get the job done. Motivating the employees by providing monetary and non-monetary incentives so that they can contribute their maximum efforts to achieve organizational goals.

Communicating with employees at regular intervals also falls under directing.

CONTROLLING

Controlling is the process in which we have to match actual performance with the planned goals. If any problem occurs, we have to try to find out the reasons of deviation and corrective actions should be taken on the path of the plan.

Once the corrective action is implemented, we have to see that the problem is dissolved.
